Family Therapy
Pause, Repair, and Connect.
Sometimes, family life can feel like a tangled mess. When one family member is stressed, it can disrupt the entire family. Parenting can also be incredibly challenging and there are times when we feel unsure about the best ways to support our children.
Your mornings feel like a race. Between getting yourself ready for work and making sure your kids are up, ready, and fed, it’s a constant rush. Before the day even begins, the stress is already creeping in. While juggling work demands, your mind periodically drifts to your kids - wondering how they're really doing, how they’re handling friendships, and everything in between. The world feels unpredictable and it’s hard not to imagine the worst when they’re on their phones or outside of the house. As the hours go by, you're juggling work, school pickups, after-school activities, and the never-ending to-do list. There’s barely a moment to take a breath.
Evenings don’t bring much relief either. Dinner feels like a scramble, and by the time the kids are in bed, you're too tired to connect with your partner or take time for yourself. This nonstop pace leaves everyone feeling exhausted and on edge. You notice more tension at home—short tempers, less communication, and your child may be retreating into screens or acting out. You might even feel this stress in your body, with headaches, stomachaches, trouble sleeping, or changes in your daily routine. As you scroll through your phone, it’s hard not to compare yourself to families who seem to have it all together. The guilt of not being the “perfect” parent starts to sink in, leaving you feeling like everyone else has it all figured out while you’re left second-guessing yourself.
Navigating Life's Demands and Your Family's Well-being
As a working parent, it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed by the constant juggling act of managing your career, family, relationships, and finding a moment for self-care. You may worry that work demands cause you to miss important moments and not have enough time to spend quality time with your children, and that can bring feelings of guilt, frustration, and exhaustion. Many kids today are also struggling with mental health challenges like anxiety and depression, which can add even more stress for parents trying to help them navigate these tough times.
The fast-paced nature of life today adds additional challenges from managing financial pressures to navigating the complexities of childcare and schooling, all the while trying to support your family’s emotional well-being. It’s easy to feel like you’re being pulled in too many directions and that you’re not doing enough for anyone, including yourself. The recent Surgeon General’s advisory highlights how all these stressors impact parents’ mental health and how many parents today feel isolated, strained, and disconnected from the support they need. You’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed about providing for your family while also trying to maintain your own mental health. It’s a lot! The fact that you care so deeply and want to get help shows just how much you’re already doing.
